How to Travel from Long Island To New York? Without having a car in Long Island can be major disadvantage for you to move around . Not even mentioning if you want to travel to Manhattan or New York to pay a visit to the Empire States Building. Well first of all i am not from America , i have frequent travel to the states under company Business agenda.

A brief introduction of myself, my name is Brian i am an Engineer , I programme machine all my life . I freaking love what i do.Throughout my whole career , i have been to lots of country thanks to my Job nature. I don’t remember the figure , but i think approximate 25 to 30 countries i laid my foot steps including those countries which i transit. Well I have been to the States several times , my frequent destinations are Boston, Long Island and New York.

How to Travel from Long Island To New York

Refer the Step by step below on how to travel to New York if you stay in Long Island without a car.

Step 1 

First , Locate the Nearest train station vs your accommodation AB&B  or Hotel in Long Island. You can do the Research location by using Google Map.

Long Island is a freaking  huge island , to get from Long Island to New York ,you either can get there by Car, train, or Ferry.

Step 2

Now you get your coordinate of  where is the nearest train station located to your Hotel . Visit the Train Station Web site here

You can either buy the ticket

• In the Train Station Counter
• The Train Station Ticketing Machine
• Online

Your Final Destination to Manhattan or New York is ” Penn Station” 

 

Step 3 

How i get to the Train Station from the Hotel Since i have no car. Uber and Lyft will be your Companion.For my case i am staying in Stonny Brook University, my nearest Train Station is Ronkonkoma. So the trip fair only cost me USD 9 dollar to get there.

I Bought a Round trip ticket from Ronkonkoma Station to Penn Station for USD 32.75

Step 4

On board the train , and enjoy your ride, the train is very slow for my standard. It took approximately 70 minute to reach Penn Station. Keep your ticket do not missplace it as there will be a train attendant randomly checking your ticket.

Finally after  a lengthy train trip , reach Penn Station . Time square , Empire State Building  and all prominent land mark in New York are very near to Penn Station. You can just turn on your GPRS and navigate your way over there.

 

Step 5

Going back to Long Island from Penn Station. To my observation, there are no customer service station or command center in  Penn Station. You must remember which exit you come out from Penn station, navigate back to the same exit on your way back.

To know which Track you need to go and what time your train arrive, look for the LCD Screen attached on the Wall.
